Preview of the report “Illegal Sprayers in Gelsenkirchen”.
The creation of this photo reportage about illegal sprayers in Gelsenkirchen and Bottrop was a challenge that was not entirely without risk. I was able to accompany two “painters” on their adventurous tours. They sprayed at freight stations, sidings and remote railway embankments. Afterwards, the sprayers met with WAZ journalist Laura da Silva de Carvalho for an interview.
The series consists of a total of 30 photographs.
During the “painting”, silence is maintained in order to be able to perceive every noise from the surroundings. At any moment, arriving trains or railway police officers could disperse the scene. Only the hissing of the spray bottles can be heard. And the smell of paint.
